Rätansbyn - First day

2007-07-14 15:23 Rätansbyn

At last!!!!

We were nervous this morning and there’s always some more last things to do before you go. We started from Sunnanhed 09:30 and drove in to Furudal on gasoline, because we wanted to be able to show preparing of the system for the audience. There were much more people than we expected and two newspaper reporters.

About 10:30 we started to prepare the system for start by filling the producer with wood and coal, emptying ashes and lubricating the throttle system. 10:50 we started the fan and 10:58 the engine. Softly we let go of the clutch and rolled out on the road as the audience applauded. The trip went out on the barren roads of Orsa Finnmark up to Noppikoski.

We want to thank all people that came to see us go. It was good to feel your support. We have now got an expedition doctor and nurse that will be contactable by phone if we have any problems.

We’re now in Rätansbyn and Martin has taken over the steering wheel. We hade a wood hang in Noppikoski. Besides that the system has worked fine. There is still some tendency for wood hang, but nothing that we worry to much about. The gas underpressure is a little bit high and we are doing 65-80 km/h.

/Johan
