Rätansbyn - First day

2007-07-30 00:35

We started the morning with a big breakfast at Susanne and Henrik’s place. We prepared the car, took some photos of the beautiful area. Then it was time to go back to the farm and process wood. Their farm-neighbour, Sven-Olle Nilsson had fixed an old wood-processing machine from WWII, which he had connected his Ferguson to. The tractor started easy and soon the machine started to spin.

The wood-processing machine is similar to our wood hacker. The difference is that it can take larger pieces of wood and works in a slower tempo. It’s more effective but bigger and heavier. A elevator is mounted on the machine to transport the wood to a sack or pile.

We processed a smaller amount of wood. Sven-Olle already had some nice processed wood that had been drying for 10 years! We had some tea, and then it was time to go. Thanks Susanne and Henrik for food and shelter! It was really fun to start the old tractor!

We drove right up on road E22 and continued to Biskopsberg outside Karlskrona. We’re staying at Jörgen Andersson’s place and have put up our tent on his property. He invited us to a barbeque when we arrived.
